Big Cuts are in Store for San Diego

2009 February 2

Faced with water shortages, San Diego will be taking a “one fell swoop” approach to water consumption, with mandatory cuts of 20% and/or fee increases. These fees would include water bills that are 4x their old amounts and increased water meter fees.

One of the complaints that surfaced is that a person who, in 2004 or 2005, implemented conservation practices will be penalized with an addition 20% cut.

While San Diego County officials have been warning about this for some time, the City of San Diego is allegedly not prepared.
