How to Submit a Story or Press Release

If you have a story or press release, we’ll be happy to publish it.  This is an excellent way to get free advertising!

The Benefits.

When it comes to Internet marketing and search engine popularity, back links are big.  They drive authority and traffic to your site.  Western-Water.com has a Google Page Rank of 4 and receives anywhere from 400 to 1000 unique visitors every day.  Your submission costs nothing.

The Requirements.

  • Your article absolutely must relate to water or natural resources issues — or the industries that are relevant.
  • Your submission must contain no more than 2 hyperlinks to your site.
  • Submissions must make sense and must be written in English.
  • Western-Water has the right to edit your submission; however, articles containing numerous grammatical errors will be rejected.
  • Western-Water has the right to reject a submission for any reason.

How to Submit a Story or Press Release.

  • Registration. Register an account at http://www.western-water.com/wp-login.php. You will see a “register” link below the log in form.  Be sure to provide a valid email address when you are registering because a password will be sent to your email.
  • Logging In. When the confirmation arrives in your email, go to the login page (above) and sign in.
  • Changing Your Password. When you log in, you are taken to a screen called a “Dashboard.”  You will see on the top right a link for “Users.”  If you want to change your password, click the “Users” link and create your new password.  It is not necessary to change your password; this is purely optional.
  • Adding a Post.  After you have logged in and are in the “Dashboard” area, you will see on the left column a “Posts” menu with an “Add New” submenu.  Click “Add New.”
    • Type Your Article in the form that appears when you add a post.
    • Alternatively, Copy/Paste Your Article in the add post interface.  Use a .txt file generated by Notepad for your copying/and pasting – It will look better.
    • Adding Links. To add a link, highlight the text that you want linked.  You’ll see an icon that looks like a chain link … click that and insert the URL that you want to link to.  Make sure that you include the “http://” in the preface of your link.
  • Preview and Save Your Submission. On the right column, you will see two buttons:  one called “Save Draft” and one called “Preview.”  Save the draft and then click preview to make sure your post looks right and that the links work correctly.  Make any necessary corrections, click Save Draft and you’re done!  Your article will be published upon approval by Western-Water.com.

Upgraded User Status.

If you are a regular contributor with approved articles, your “user status” will be upgraded so that your posts are published immediately without administrative review.  An email will be sent to you notifying you of the upgraded status.  Since people are submitting a lot of spammy, irrelevant posts, there is a review time to make sure that only quality submissions are being posted.
