Feature Story... Bidding Wars
In the late 1800s the "fence cutting wars" began. Free range ranchers cut miles of barbed
wire across the Western states in order to free their cattle and Native Americans snipped the fencing to allow for the passage of
traditionally hunted game animals. Perhaps these fence cutters were the early public land activists. Nowadays, public lands
activism often takes place in court rooms.
A topic in Arizona court rooms these days concerns conflicting applications over state grazing leases, particularly
leased lands that involve riparian corridors. A battle over "equities" in one state
grazing lease has emerged in Arizona's White Mountains [continued].
Water Flow and Quantity Calculators
Our most popular area of the site includes online calculators so that you can figure out how many
acre-feet of water corresponds with your GPM figures, how many acre-feet are used per cubic foot, and many more popular calculations.
