Wednesday, May 21, 2025 — The National Ground Water Association (NGWA) will convene professionals, researchers, and policymakers in Denver this fall for its 2025 Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) Conference, focusing on practical strategies for recharging aquifers while safeguarding water quality.
Scheduled for September 23–24 at the Embassy Suites Denver Downtown Convention Center, the event will serve as a platform for sharing regulatory, technical, and institutional lessons related to aquifer recharge. It follows the association’s inaugural MAR event held in 2023 in San Antonio, Texas.
“Managed aquifer recharge is the purposeful recharge of water to aquifers for later recovery or other benefits,” NGWA stated in its official announcement. “While practiced for decades, MAR is of growing interest to many communities.”
The 2025 program will highlight how MAR is being used to offset the escalating risks of drought and water scarcity, issues particularly relevant across the Western United States. The conference is designed to support cities, water agencies, and industry leaders in planning, implementing, and maintaining recharge projects that boost resilience and sustainability.
