A tourist at Hoover Dam captured footage of a transformer fire at Hoover Dam this morning.

The Bureau of Reclamation’s fire brigade quickly extinguished the fire, taking just half an hour to do the job. There were no injuries and according to the Bureau, the power grid is not affected.  According to a statement by Regional Director Jacklynn (Jaci) L. Gould of the Bureau’s Lower Colorado Region:

At approximately 10 a.m. (PDT) the A5 transformer at Hoover Dam caught fire and was extinguished by the Reclamation/Hoover fire brigade at approximately 10:30 a.m. There are no injuries to visitors or employees. There is no risk to the power grid and power is still being generated from the powerhouse. We are investigating the cause of the fire and will provide additional updates as they are available.

The A5 transformer is shown in the above image.
