November 8, 2023 — The US Drought Monitor reports that California is no longer experiencing drought. All 54 counties are not in USDA drought disaster areas and 100% of the state’s population resides in drought-free areas.
The Drought Monitor Map shows small portions of the state in abnormally dry conditions. The abnormally dry conditions are depicted in yellow on the map.
As to whether the trend will continue with a 75-85% chance that a strong El Niño will occur November through January, it is unclear how the weather system will affect snowfall in California.
